The "Billy Mac Fund"

We would like to share a story about a tragic day in the life of our loved one Bill MacDonald Jr.

On March 23,2006 while on ajob site, Bill was struck off the top of his head with thirty tons of iron. His cervical vertebrae were shattered causing damage to his spinal cord and he was instantly paralyzed.

Bill was rushed by ambulance helicopter to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston where he remained in the intensive care unit on a breathing ventilator for three weeks. He was then transferred to the number one hospital in the country for catastrophic spinal cord injuries; The Shepherd Center, Atlanta, Georgia. Here he began ten weeks of rehabilitation. In that time, with his amazing strength, he was able to come off the breathing ventilator and begin daily physical and occupational therapy. He continues his therapy now at the Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital in Salem, NH.

Anyone who has worked with Bill while he has been hospitalized has witnessed his tremendous strength, courage and spirit. The challenges he faces everyday are many. He looks forward to getting home soon. Bill's wish is to live as independently as possible. In his younger days he excelled physically as a recognized athlete and throughout his adult life as a demolition/dismantling contractor.

We would like to bring your attention to the fund set-up on his behalf "The Billy Mac Fund". Donations to this fund will help supplement any of Bill's future medical needs. He will continue to work hard on his physical therapy. New medical research has- given Bill hope for regaining some movement back to his body.

There will be a benefit held on November 10, 2006 at the Danversport Yacht Club, Danvers, MA. It will be a night of dinner, entertainment and raffles. If you would like to purchase tickets to the benefit please send a separate check ($100 per ticket). Please return it in the enclosed envelope and your ticket will be mailed to you promptly.
